                                              Stephen Hawking!

Scientist of the Month!

Born on January 8th, 1942, in England, Stephen’s family was poor. He had two little sisters and an adopted younger brother. Stephen did not do very well in school and he had a hard time learning to read and write. In 1959 at the age of 17, he and his math teacher built a computer out of clock and watch parts!

While in college he began to have speaking and walking problems. The doctors told him he had only a short time to live. That was in 1963! Although his disease does not let him do many things physically, his mind is not affected!

Stephen has been married and has 3 adult children.

His work in Space science is some of the best since Alfred Einstein’s! He works on answering questions about how everything in outer space works and why. He has also answered many questions scientists have had about Black Holes!

Even though Stephen’s body hasn’t worked well for many years, he still hasn’t given up and believes that he can do just about anything!!
